Galashiels Rotarian Lynda Stoddart recently organised a swim in aid of Borders Water Rescue and celebrating the reopening of the special crossing of the River Tweed.
The challenge was the 9.5 km swim from Union Chain Bridge down to Berwick RNLI station.
Not a race but the distance was covered very fast, using the tide to speed the 29 swimmers along.

The safety support on the water came from members of the BWR and land based volunteers helped with the transport and care of the swimmers.
Rotary helpers came from clubs based in Eyemouth and Lynda's club, Gaslashiels and District.

The weather was glorious and the swimmers enjoyed it so much there are requests for this to be an annual event.
The original hope was to raise £3,000 for this much needed water safety resource. So far over £5,000 has been raised.
