A NEW Chinese restaurant in Tweedank is aiming to be open for Christmas.

The Shanghai Banquet will take over the premises formerly known as Herges on The Loch.

It is the sister restaurant of the popular China Red Buffet in Grindlay Street, Edinburgh near to the Usher Hall known for its wide variety of Chinese cuisine, its commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients, and its casual atmosphere.

And the Shanghai Banquet promises to offer the same great food and service as China Red Buffet, but with a more modern and stylish dining space.

The buffet will feature a wide variety of Chinese dishes, including both traditional and modern favourites.

Diners can start their meal with some dim sum, like dumplings or spring rolls. Then, move on to a main course, like Peking duck or stir-fry. And for dessert, try some traditional Chinese sweets, like mooncakes or tangyuan.

A spokesperson said: “With over 100 dishes to choose from, there’s something for everyone at Shanghai Banquet.

“And with the all-you-can-eat buffet, you can indulge in your favourite dishes without worrying about going hungry.

“Shanghai Banquet is the perfect place to enjoy a casual meal with friends or family. The restaurant is also a great option for special occasions, like birthdays or anniversaries.

Owners told the Border Telegraph that they are hoping to be open by mid December.
