THE DEATH of a 76-year-old man whose body was discovered in the Yarrow area this morning is being treated as ‘unexplained’.

But there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances at this time according to Police Scotland.

Emergency services including police, ambulance, fire service and mountain rescue teams attended the scene off the A708, south of Selkirk around 11.45am.

The scene was cordoned off.

The man’s family have been informed of the incident, and a report detailing the circumstances is being prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The body of a 76-year-old man was discovered in the Yarrow area in the Scottish Borders around 11.45am on Sunday.

“The death is being treated as unexplained, however there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

“His next of kin are aware. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
