NOW in its fourth year, Art @ Ancrum has grown to be a popular Art Festival contained within the picturesque village of Ancrum in the Scottish Borders.

This year's event takes place on Saturday, April 30 to Monday, May 2 and uses multiple venues including the village hall, Cross Keys Inn, shop, church and a number of private houses turned over to art for the weekend.

During September of 2012 a group of Artists and Craftspeople held very successful "Crossing Borders" Art Trail Exhibitions in Ancrum Village.

Following the success of the weekend a group of the participants proposed a new initiative; a long weekend art, which has now developed into a regular event, with the support of the people of Ancrum Village. Last year there were in excess of 600 visitors to the event.

A selected number of professional Borders artists and craftspeople have been invited to take part. Many have taken part before, but there will be new names for 2016, plus possible new venues.

This year, more than 30 invited professional artists and makers taking part, working in visual arts, textiles, ceramics, glass, wood and jewellery.

At Aln Cottage there's a one-off retrospective exhibition of the work of Ancrum's own Moira Leggat, a highly respected photographer of many years' experience.

In the Cross Keys Inn there is also an exhibition,"Absent Friends", showing a selection of work by more artists who the organisers rate highly but who are not participating in the event itself.
