THE Scottish Chamber Orchestra make a welcome return to Selkirk to perform in the Victoria Halls next month.

Opening with Beethoven’s dramatic Coriolan Overture, this concert is directed from the violin by SCO Associate Artist Alexander Janiczek. Janiczek is a leading musician in his field, having lead both the SCO and Chamber Orchestra of Europe in the past, and now performing as soloist and chamber musician across the world.

His energy and creativity on stage make him a popular collaborator with the Orchestra. Janiczek closes the programme with Mozart’s ever-popular and optimistic Symphony No 36 and also brings Schubert’s delightful German Dances to the programme, arranged by Webern.

SCO Principal Clarinet Maximiliano Martín is known for his charisma and energy on stage, making him a superb concerto soloist.

He combines his position at the SCO with international solo and chamber music engagements and masterclasses all around the world. He completes this programme with the soaring melodies of Louis Spohr’s Second Clarinet Concerto.

Scottish Chamber Orchestra players are renowned for their unique blend of passion, skill and energy, and are committed to bringing high quality music to communities across the length and breadth of Scotland.

This concert, on Thursday, September 15, forms part of the Orchestra’s extensive summer touring programme which runs from May to September and will this year showcase the talents of SCO Principal Players as soloists.
