PHOENIX Nights legend and star of Live at the Apollo, Justin Moorhouse is heading for the Borders.

And the award-winning funny man is hoping to crack you up in the Hemelvaart Bier Cafe.

Moorhouse, who is a regular on BBC 5 Live's Fighting Talk and Radio 4's News Quiz, will perform at one of the region's newest venues.

The Hemelvaart Bier Cafe in the Berwickshire village of Ayton hopes to become a hotbed of entertainment.

And they will get their festive programme off to a flying start with a rare Scottish date on Moorhouse's In People and Feelings tour.

Justin has come along way since the long hot summer of 1976, when he was thrust by his divorced mum’s quick remarriage into a clichéd working class Northern English family, no one in the Moorhouse household could ever of dreamed of what was to happen 40 years later…

In the summer of 1986, surrounded by the detritus of a post-industrial age that had long since given up any romantic hope of a young man’s chances of learning a trade in the manufacturing industries that had shaped the very city to which he was born, our hero was forced into a tokenistic YTS course as a shipping clerk in Manchester – the most land locked city in the British Isles – no one could have guessed what would happen just 30 short years later…

A decade on… 1996 as his fellow holiday makers of Kavos watched our hero dance on a podium with his shirt off, pink and sweaty, more Don Estelle than the Adonis he thought, who could have predicted what just two decades later may happen….

….and in 2006 having seemingly forgone a promising career in stand up for a regular day time job on the radio and a bit of acting here and there and some stand up that frankly was ‘fine’….the truth was still a decade away from becoming a reality…

Legends aren’t born, they’re forged over decades…

…prophecies are only discussed when they’ve become… no one remembers the empty promises – this winter, one man will stand on a stage with all that life has taught him and talk about his feelings, but be very funny about it.

Moorhouse will take to the Hemelvaart Bier Cafe on Thursday, December 1. Doors open at 7pm and tickets are available via www.hemelvaart.co.uk, or by calling 07968 359917.
