AN album featuring the future sounds of the Borders is about to be launched later this month.

A collaboration of many of the best young musicians in the region has led to the recording of a stunning album, Weave.

And it will be officially released during the Border Book Festival in Melrose on Friday, June 16.

Over the last few months Sound Cycle, The Borders Youth Music Forum and The Eyemouth Music Initiative have been working with young musicians from across the Borders on different projects.

Among the musicians who have taken part are Peebles singer-songwriter Millie Hanlon Cole, Selkirk singer Erin Highton, and Jack Hinks, who is now based in Edinburgh.

The collective also features electro pioneers Eggshell Goblin, Berwickshire trio Julep, and the Scottish Borders Youth Brass Band.

Galashiels musician Craig Jeffrey has also added his melodies and experience to the project.

A spokesman for the Sound Cycle project said: "The title of the album, Weave, reflects the diverse music of young musicians who appear on the recordings, who although quite varied in sound and approach, all hail from the Scottish Borders, an area with such a unique identity and rich heritage.

"The launch party will feature an evening of eclectic tunes and songs featuring some of our amazing bands and singers, including loop pedal maestro Millie Hanlon Cole, guitar whizz Jack Hinks with his full band, members of the Eyemouth Sound Collective, and a special performance from Borders singer/songwriter Craig Jeffrey."

Weave will be released for download and streaming on Friday, June 16 at The Orchard Venue within the Borders Book Festival area, between 9pm and 10.15pm.

Tickets for the launch are now on sale.
