IT may be mid-June before the official Olympic torch makes its way to the Borders, but for the past few weeks another such torch has been seen on the streets of Galashiels.
To mark London 2012, nurseries and playgroups in the town are holding their own Olympic Games at Langlee Primary School on June 13 - complete with its own torch journey.
Since leaving Glendinning Nusery in April, the torch has been making its way round all the local pre-schools and last week it was the turn of these youngsters from St Peters Under Fives Playgroup, in the Scout Hall, to hand it over to their counterparts from St Peters Primary School Nursery.
The two groups met up at Old Gala House where the torch exchanged hands and games were played in the glorious sunshine!
And the Olympic flame continued to blaze a trail through Galashiels this week.
The nursery at St Peter's School is due to hand the torch to Osito nursery, based at Netherdale, at the Public Park today (Wednesday, May 30).
They received it from St Peter's Under 5 Playgroup on Friday after it was presented to them by 345 playgroup.
Each nursery is also designing its own Olympic flag for the mini Olympics.
