A SIGNALLING fault led to the closure of the Borders Railway this afternoon.
Trains for Tweedbank were terminating at Newcraighall for over an hour.
And several sheduled trains were cancelled.
Engineers from Network Rail were rushed to Gorebridge to fix the fault.
And trains from around 2.30pm were expected to be running as normal.
The line was closed just before 1pm after a failure with an axle counter at Gorebridge was discovered. The equipment is used for counting trains on the line.
ScotRail had requested busses to take passengers to and from Borders stations during the line closure.
But they have now cancelled the request due to the speed of the problem being rectified.
