POLICE in the Scottish Borders have arrested and charged two men for offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act after five search warrants were executed in the Duns area on Wednesday, May 4. 

A 24-year-old man was charged with possession of cannabis and a 22-year-old man with both possession of and possession with intent to supply cannabis after a number of properties were searched.

The men will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

These searches were part of Police Scotland's response to the supply of drugs in the Scottish Borders under Operation Gatekeeper.

Inspector John Scott, Community Inspector for the East Community Policing Area in the Borders said: "This was a large operation to tackle the supply of controlled drugs in Duns.

"We deployed additional resources from across the division, with an extra 12 officers supporting four local community officers in this operation.

"We re determined to respond to the impact of drugs in our communities and the affect they can have in rural areas.

"I would like to thank the public for the support shown to the Police in Duns in relation to community intelligence being provided to us.

"This is vital in our response to tackling the supply of drugs.
