SCOTTISH Borders Council has appointed Malcolm Construction to deliver a new 3G pitch for Hawick.

The company has previously worked with local authority by installing the 2G pitch at Selkirk High School.

Work is expected to start later this month with a completion date pencilled in for the autumn.

Meanwhile, the Wilton Lodge Park project, also in Hawick, has received a funding boost for 2016/17 receiving two awards totalling £120,000 to promote the park as a ‘learn to cycle’ route.

Hawick councillor David Paterson said: “I am absolutely delighted that we have been offered extra funding for Wilton Lodge Park.

“There has already been a massive investment to encourage more visitors to our award winning park since the project started back in 2013 with the new bandstand, playpark, café, bridge and walled garden.“Hopefully this further investment will encourage the park to be used even more, and enjoyed by locals and the many visitors that come to our park from all over Britain and further afield. I would like to thank everyone that helped make this yet another win for Hawick.”
