A KNIFEMAN who repeatedly stabbed his victim with two knives in a Galashiels street has been jailed for more than six years.
Robert Gregg attacked Rory Morrison at Marmion Road on 19 December, 2015.
The High Court in Edinburgh was told how the 39-year-old knocked Mr Morrison over before klaunching a vicious attack with the knives.
Gregg, a prisoner of HMP Edinburgh, previously admitted assault to severe injury and causing a danger of life at a previous hearing.
Defence solicitor advocate Jim Stephenson told judge Lady Scott that his client regretted the attack.
Lady Scott said that the nature of the attack and the fact that Gregg had 24 previous convictions meant jail was the only sentence open to the court.
He was sentenced to six and a half years.
