Police in the Scottish Borders are appealing for witnesses after a man exposed himself in front of a woman and her young granddaughter in Station Road, Selkirk.

The incident happened around 6pm yesterday (Saturday, October 15).

The man is described as being white, aged between 30 and 40 years old with short dark hair which might be a wig. He was wearing a dark-coloured dressing gown and outdoor shoes. He may have come from the Muthag Street direction.

Inspector Bryan Burns of Melrose police station said: "This indecent and inappropriate behaviour is totally unacceptable and has left the two witnesses understandably distressed.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this individual or who has any information that can assist us in identifying him.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
