GALA'S newest building suppliers have come to the rescue of Cash For Kids' Mission Christmas appeal.

MKM, who just opened in the town last month, are providing supersize Santa sacks for the Borders-wide charity.

Last year Cash for Kids distributed over £60,000 worth of toys which were donated.

Local companies and individuals are encouraged to donate a toy at drop off points across the region, or raise vital funds to source specialist toys.

And this year organisers have already collected around 2,000 toys at the Transport Interchange for sorting, packing and despatching to local children in poverty.

Candy Rafferty from Cash for Kids said: "Our aim this year is to help 1,000 children in our area this Christmas.

"This year’s campaign has got off to such a good start that our headquarters at the Transport Interchange is already full to overflowing.

“It was getting difficult to define the age groups as we were sorting the incoming toys."

Building suppliers MKM came to the rescue by providing ‘dumpy bags’.

MKM Manager Bob Hogarth added: “MKM is a firm believer in giving back to the community, and we had the ideal solution.

"These bags will make things much easier for volunteers to pick out the appropriate toys for each age group.”
