THIEVES have stolen precious stones and high-value jewellery during a raid on a house in the Borders.
A property on Hawick's Sunnyhill Road was broken into over the weekend.
A total of eight gold rings were taken along with precious stones, ten broaches, eight necklaces, three watches and a thee-figure sum of cash.
The crime was discovered at around 4pm on Saturday.
Constable Bruce Dodds said: "Various pieces of jewellery that hold both financial and sentimental value were stolen during this break-in and we are conducting a robust investigation to identify the culprits and retrieve the stolen goods.
"Anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity around Sunnyhill Road between Friday and Saturday should contact police immediately.
"In addition, anyone with any further information relevant to this inquiry is also urged to get in touch."
Police believe the property was broken into between 12 noon on Friday and the Saturday afternoon.
Local officers are conducting inquiries and appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
