ST MARGARET’S RC Primary in Galashiels held a Confirmation Retreat last month.
The occasion was held for 28 children across the Borders who are preparing to be confirmed by Arch Bishop Leo Cushley in coming weeks.
Catholic pupils from St Margaret’s Galashiels, St Margaret’s Hawick, as well as pupils from local primaries who attend the parishes of Our Lady and St Andrew’s, Galashiels; and Our Lady and St David’s, Hawick; came together to celebrate and focus on the sacrament of Confirmation.
The day was run by Patricia Carroll, from the Archdiocesan Office at Gillis Centre Edinburgh.
She led the children in prayer, stories and hymns with actions.
The pupils also discussed the meaning of Confirmation and reflected on the parallels of the Bible to their individual everyday actions.
Nicola McLeod, the principal teacher at St Margaret’s said: “This event was a tremendous success, one which we hope to build on and make an annual calendar event.”
