WITNESSES are being sought after a series of house break-ins and attempted house break-ins across the Borders at the weekend.

The first incident happened around 11.30pm on Saturday, July 29 in Craigengar Gate, West Linton when the door of a house was damaged but no entry gained.

The second incident happened at a café in Leadburn around 1.40am on Sunday, July 30 when a four-figure sum of cash was taken.

A four-figure sum of cash was taken during a break-in to the Glentress Hotel, Peebles around 2.15am on July 30.

There was an attempt to break into the Tweed Road store in Galashiels around 2.30am on Sunday morning.

A hairdressers in Market St, Eyemouth was broken into around 3.30am and goods and cash to the value of a three-figure sum were taken.

The post office in the High Street, Coldingham was broken into around 3.40am but nothing was taken.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information that can assist them with their inquiries to please get in touch.

Detective Constable Callum Peoples of Galashiels CID said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in these areas on Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

"We are following all lines of inquiry and are keeping an open mind as to whether these incidents are linked."
