A 59-year-old woman described as an alcoholic, and who failed to provide two specimens of breath after being suspected of drinking has been banned from driving for almost four years.
Natalie Scheff was spotted driving a Red Peugeot 207 in the grounds of Duns Castle Estate while the Berwickshire County Show was taking place on August 5.
Police were called due to her erratic behaviour.
Jedburgh Sheriff Court heard the mother-of-two had a difficult background with alcohol and was an alcoholic.
She had been drinking the night before the offence and four empty bottles of wine were found near her chair in the living room of her home on Duns Castle Estate.
When police arrived she was difficult with them and was shouting and swearing and when she was taken to Galashiels Police Station she refused to give two samples of breath.
Defence lawyer Sophie Russell said her client had just asked her husband for a divorce and it had been an emotional and turbulent time for her.
She added:"She chose the wrong way to deal with a difficult situation."
In addition to being banned from the road for 45 months, Scheff was fined £425.
