A TOTAL of six cars were broken into this week on the same street - with nothing being stolen.

The vehicles were all parked on Wilson Drive in Hawick overnight on Tuesday into Wednesday.

All the cars had windows smashed.

Police believe the incidents may be connected to a house break-in nearby in Fairhurst Drive on the same night.

Cash and a mobile phone were taken from the property.

Detective Sergeant Barry Roebuck of Galashiels’ Criminal Investigation Department said: “These break-ins have caused considerable distress for the local community and we are eager to trace those responsible as soon as possible.

“I would ask anyone who was in the Wilson Drive and Fairhurst Drive areas between 9pm on Tuesday, February 20, and 6.30am on Wednesday, February 21, and saw anything suspicious, to get in touch with us at their earliest convenience.”

Anyone with information can contact officers at Galashiels’ Criminal Investigation Department on 101, quoting incident number 0386 of February 21, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
