A STUDENT from the Borders who was last seen on Wednesday is still missing.

Hundreds of volunteers joined in the search for 19-year-old Duncan Sim over the weekend.

The chemistry student at St Andrew's University was last seen at around 11pm on Wednesday near Madras Rugby Club, where he'd been socialising with friends.

A coach of friends from his hometown of Duns joined students and other volunteers throughout Saturday and Sunday to search areas all around the coastal town.

Student Ben Peddie, who is helping co-ordinate the volunteer search, told the Border Telegraph: "Saturday's search widened to a seven mile radius of where Duncan was last seen and on Sunday, as there is no golf, we searched the golf courses as well as distributing fliers all over St Andrews.

"Everyone is deeply worried about Duncan."

Duncan, who is six foot tall with brown hair and green eyes, was last seen wearing a grey-coloured suit jacket, white shirt, and a blue and white tie.

It is believed he was on his way to the St Andrews’ Student Union on Market Street after leaving the rugby club.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage of the route he would have taken.

Sergeant Sharon Holmes of Fife Police Division said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for Duncan’s welfare and are eager to trace him as soon as possible.

“I would urge anyone who may have seen Duncan, or a man matching his description, to contact us immediately.

“In addition, anyone with information that can help us trace his whereabouts is asked to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information can contact St Andrews Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 2987 of 15 March.
