A 25-YEAR-OLD man has been charged in connection with the attempted theft of a charity box.
The incident is alleged to have happened at Teviot Wines in Hawick on Monday, March 12.
The collection tin in the store is in memory of 13-year-old Anthony Mundell, who died in 2009 of a rare type of kidney cancer.
A police spokesperson said: "Police Scotland can confirm that a 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the attempted theft of a charity box in Hawick.
"Officers were called to a shop in the Tower Knowe area of Hawick on Monday, March 12.
"The man is expected to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court today (Thursday)."
