POLICE are appealing for information after several business premises were targeted by thieves in Hawick.
Between last Friday and yesterday (Wednesday) attempts had been made to break into a number of properties on O'Connell Street, Howegate and the High Street.
Although entry wasn't gained, damage was caused to doors at each of the buildings.
And investigating officers believe the incidents are linked.
Deputy local area commander Inspector Tony Hodges said: “These attempted break-ins have caused damage to properties and we are eager to trace those responsible as soon as possible.
“I would ask anyone who was in any of these areas between August 10 and 15, and who saw anything suspicious, to get in touch with us at their earliest convenience.”
Anyone with information can contact officers at Galashiels’ Criminal Investigation Department on 101, quoting incident number 0742 of August 15, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
