THE A6088 road at Bonchester Bridge was blocked this afternoon (Tuesday December 6 2022) after an HGV trailer caught fire.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 12.14pm.
Police advised motorists to avoid the area.
Two fire appliances attended and extinguished the fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 12.14pm on Tuesday to reports of a HGV trailer alight on the A6088, Bonchester Bridge.
“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the scene to extinguish the fire.
"There were no reported injuries and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a trailer on fire on the A6088 at Bonchester Bridge around 1.20pm on Tuesday, 6 December.
“Officers attended and assisted with traffic management. Recovery has been arranged for the trailer.”
