FOLLOWING on from a 64-33 victory over Zimbabwe U20 last Saturday, Scotland U20 Head Coach Kenny Murray has named his team to face USA U20 in the second pool match of the World Rugby U20 Trophy on Thursday 20 July – kick off 12pm BST (2pm local time).

Murray has made six changes to his starting 15, with an equal split between the forwards and the backs.

Melrose’s Finn Douglas retains his place on the wing and Hawick’s Corey Tait comes in as starting hooker after an impressive shift off the bench against Zimbabwe.

Lauder’s Sam Derrick is replaced by Jonny Morris and he will be joined on the bench by Hawick’s Hector Patterson, and Selkirk’s Matt Reid.

Former Southern Knights scrum-half Ben Afshar continues as co-captain.

Selkirk No 8 Monroe Job was added to the squad to replace former Southern Knights flanker Rudi Brown, who recently signed for French club Vannes, after he was forced to drop out due to injury.

Head Coach Murray said: “We were really pleased to bag our first win of the tournament and get off to a good start.

“The players showed some strong performances against Zimbabwe, especially in the first half. We obviously had a period where we took our foot off the gas in the second half, so there were a lot of learnings to take from that 15-minute window.

“The USA are a strong and physical team and with this quick turnaround between matches, we must make sure we capitalise on every opportunity.”
