JEDBURGH and district councillor Scott Hamilton has been shortlisted for the 2023 LGIU Scotland and CCLA annual Cllr Awards for Young Councillor of the Year.

Scotland's youngest councillor when first elected in 2017, and re-elected in 2022, Cllr Hamilton is Deputy Leader at Scottish Borders Council and Executive member for Community and business development.

He will be up against Cllr James Dalgleish - Edinburgh Council, Cllr Dan Hutchison - Glasgow City Council, Cllr Kristopher Leask - Orkney Islands Council and Cllr Lana Reid-McConnell - Glasgow City Council.

The Cllr Awards judging panel is made up of senior councillors and leading stakeholders from across the sector. These are the only national awards to celebrate and showcase the work of individual councillors.

The winners in Scotland will be announced at the City Chambers in Edinburgh at 7pm on November 21 2023.
