THE Jedburgh Running Festival returns this weekend and it’s expected to attract hundreds of athletes from across the Borders and further afield.

This year’s festival will consist of the 38-mile Three Peaks Ultra-Marathon on Saturday October 28 followed by the 10-kilometre, half-marathon and wheelchair and hand-cycle races on Sunday, October 29.

Sunday’s 10km Jed Renilson Wheelchair Race from Bonjedward to Mounthooly is shaping up to be one of the biggest yet, with entries in from no fewer than six world champions and Paralympians including Gordon’s Samantha Kinghorn.

To accommodate the festival a number of road closures, diversions and parking restrictions have been announced.

In addition organisers warn that the public car parks in town fill up well in advance of the race start, and on street parking is limited.

On Sunday October 29 Abbey Place Jedburgh will be closed to vehicular traffic between 9:30am and 11:15am

The Diversion is via the A68 and Canongate between the hours of 9:30am and 10:45am 
 
The High Street, Jedburgh will be closed to vehicular traffic between 10:45am and 11:30am. No alternative route are. available 
 
The A68 Bongate  will be closed to vehicular traffic between 11am and 11:30am

These closures will only come into effect at such times when indicated by appropriate traffic signs or under the instruction of a police officer in uniform. 
 
Pedestrian access will be available at all times 
 
The A698 Kalemouth to Bonjedward and the A6090 at Bonjedward  will be closed to vehicular traffic between 10am and 3pm. 
 
 The diversion westbound is north on A698 to Kelso bypass, north on B6352 by Station Road/The Path to A699 junction, west on A699 to junction with A68 at St Boswells Green, then south east on A68 to junction with A698 at Bonjedward 
The diversion eastbound is the above in reverse

Temporary Speed Restriction will be in force between 11am  and 3pm. 
 
A68 from Bonjedward to 30mph signs at the east end of Jedburgh will have a temporary 30mph speed restriction applied 
 
Parking will be prohibited on Oxnam Road – from the A68 to Allerton Court from 06:00 to 15:00
