TWO people who turned up at a house in Hawick and caused a disturbance over remarks made on social media have each been fined £150 at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Twenty-year-olds Kacie Bain, of Wilson Drive, and Lewis, of Stonefield Place, were both under the influence of alcohol when they went to confront a man about the comments.
Bain pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing and uttering threats of violence, and punching and kicking doors and windows of a property in Chay Blyth Place on December 12, 2022.
During the incident McLean threw a block of ice which smashed a window of the property and the shards of glass cut the leg of a man inside the property. He pleaded guilty to a charge of culpable and reckless conduct.
In addition to the fines, the pair were each ordered to pay a £10 victim surcharge.
