A JEDBURGH pensioner who obtained more than £15,000 of housing benefit he was not entitled to has been placed on a night-time home curfew at the town’s sheriff court.
Seventy-five-year-old Kenneth Hogg failed to disclose he had £5,000 capital in savings when he started claiming housing benefit at his then property in Lothian Road, Jedburgh, in 2009.
He pleaded guilty to receiving £15,400.84 in housing benefit he was not entitled to.
Hogg was ordered to stay within his home in Queens Court, Jedburgh, between the hours of 7pm and 7am for the next six months.
He was also told to pay Scottish Borders Council £5,000 in compensation to be paid within six months.
