A 36-YEAR-OLD man who caused a disturbance outside Jedburgh Sheriff Court during which he struggled with police officers has been jailed for four months.

The court sitting was due to break-up for lunch and Carl Kirsopp was outside the building in Market Place shouting and swearing and uttering threats of violence.

Due to his behaviour police officers from the nearby station were called out and Kirsopp obstructed them as they tried to arrest him.

Kirsopp was taken into custody and later appeared in  the dock at Jedburgh Sheriff Court where Sheriff Kevin McCarron told him that due to his behaviour he had no option but to impose a custodial sentence.
