BACKGROUND reports have been ordered into a Hawick man who has been found guilty of attempting to communicate indecently with an underage teenage girl.
Forty-year-old Michael Reid, of Ramsay Road, encouraged the girl in a series of messages to carry out a sex act and repeatedly requested she send him naked images of herself.
He was found guilty after a trial at Jedburgh Sheriff Court of committing the offence at a house in Grieve Avenue, Jedburgh, on September 27, 2022.
Sentence was deferred until May 13 for the production of a criminal justice social work report and he has been made subject to the notification requirements of the Sexual Offences Act.
