A MOTORIST who admitted driving while more than six times the legal alcohol limit has been banned from the road for five years at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Adrian Strangeways, 54, from Newtown St Boswells, pleaded guilty to the offence which happened on the A708 road near Craig Douglas in the Yarrow Valley on September 4 last year.
Strangeways recorded a breath/alcohol count of 137 microgrammes – the legal limit being 22.
An interim disqualification had already been imposed.
He had appeared from custody after being remanded for failing to turn up for appointments to prepare background reports.
In addition to the disqualification period, Strangeways was also given a nine-month community payback order with supervision.
