LOCAL MP Michael Moore has congratulated Rosie Platt in Primary 4 at St Boswells Primary school, for winning his 2014 Christmas card competition.

Pupils from schools across the Borders took part in the competition over the past few weeks and the runners up in the competition were: Arda Kurt, P1T, Melrose Primary; Madalaine Cross, P7 Yarrow Primary; Chelsea Fraser P6 Drumlanrig Primary, Hawick; Emma McCall, P3/4 Burgh School, Galashiels and Alex Bisset, P7, Eccles Leitholm Primary.

Mr Moore said: “This year’s Christmas card competition saw a lively contest featuring many excellent designs from numerous Primary Schools in the region.

“After much deliberation I chose Rosie Platt for her excellent picture of Big Ben, Santa and a Christmas tree.

“The quality of the entrants this year highlights the creativity of our children here in the Borders, and is a credit to the excellent local school teachers and support staff that have encouraged them. I want to thank all the pupils who took part in my Christmas card competition for their brilliant creative efforts. Special congratulations are also due to the five runners up whose entries are now on display in my constituency office window and being admired by many passers-by.”
