SELKIRKSHIRE councillor Michelle Ballantyne has been selected as the Conservative candidate to fight for the Midlothian South, Tweeddale & Lauderdale seat at next year’s Scottish Parliament elections.

Ms Ballantyne was the unanimous choice of local party members at a meeting in Cardrona on Monday.

Michelle said: “I am honoured and delighted to have been selected as the Scottish Conservative & Unionist candidate for Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale.

“As a passionate unionist who cares deeply about people, I want to see a Scottish Government that actually delivers real solutions to the challenges we face.

“Over the coming months, I look forward to meeting a great many of the electorate and discussing how we can secure a great future for Scotland.”
