POLICE in the Borders are issuing a warning following reports of two bogus telephone calls in Kelso in as many days.

Officers received a report from members of the public on Monday and Tuesday last week after a caller had purported to be a police officer.

Both residents were suspicious of the calls and immediately contacted police.

Although no crime was committed, enquiries are continuing, and Police Scotland is advising people to be wary of any suspicious calls.

Inspector John Scott said: “Anyone who receives a similar call should not provide information by telephone unless they are satisfied that it is the police.

“The police will never ask for personal information on the telephone and should you have concerns, you can obtain contact details from the officer and contact them through the 101 non emergency number.”
