A GALASHIELS man has appeared from custody at Jedburgh Sheriff Court charged with possession of an axe in a public place.
Wayne Stillwell, 27, is accused of having an article which had a blade and was sharply pointed.
The offence is alleged to have taken place in the Huddersfield Street area of Galashiels on Monday.
Stillwell pleaded not guilty to the charge and a trial date was set for March 15 with an intermediate hearing at Selkirk Sheriff Court on February 15.
The Crown unsuccessfully opposed the granting of bail but Sheriff Peter Paterson put Stillwell on a curfew keeping him in his Church Street home between the hours of 7p.m. and 7a.m.
