A GREAT time was had by all… That’s the verdict of Patricia Robertson of Galashiels Rotary Club after Sunday’s action-packed annual fun day in the Public Park.

An alarming weather forecast, predicting gale force winds and rain, proved a deterrent to a number of charity stall-holders and to members of the public.

As it turned out, however, the strong westerly breeze kept the rain away and, although it was unseasonably cold, the main events, including a potted sports for primary aged children, went ahead as planned.

Face-painting, a bouncy castle and exciting boat swings were kept busy throughout the day while live music, belted out from the back of a lorry, was in the safe hands of The Killer Cats from Northumberland and local favourites The Border Boogie Band.

The fun day was compered by David Henderson and his team from TD1 Radio, the Galashiels internet station whose recording of the event is now available online.

“We could have done with a bigger crowd, but a great time was had by all who came along and lots of money was raised,” said Patricia.

“The Rotary Club is already looking forward to next year’s event when hopefully the weather will smile on us.”
