A PORN addict banned from the internet was found with three devices which were able to access the worldwide web.

Jason Thomson was on bail accused of downloading indecent images of children when he called police to say property had been stolen from his home in St Andrew Street in Galashiels, But when officers visited on Saturday, January 25, they noticed the devices including a mobile phone and checked his conditions of bail which barred him from having any which could access the internet.

Last month Thomson, 40, was ordered to carry out 150 hours unpaid work and had his name placed on the Sex Offender’s Register after admitting two charges of possessing child pornography between September 2012, and July 2013.

Selkirk Sheriff Court was told that 164 indecent images and 28 movies were found on the 40-year-old’s computer.

The vast majority were in the least serious category of Level One which featured girls aged between infant and 12 years old naked or partially clothed posing erotically.

Level two had six images of similarly aged girls involved in sex acts with other youngsters.

Depute fiscal Tessa Bradley said 36 images and 10 movies were found in Level Three and 20 images and 17 movies in level Four with one image in the most serious Level Five category.

The court was told that Thomson was addicted to pornography.

Defence lawyer Mat Patrick explained it was unusual that Thomson had invited the police to his home and that the bail breach was “simply confusion” on his part.

He added that the devices - which were not solely for accessing the internet but had other uses - were analysed and nothing untowards was found on them.

Jobless Thomson was fined £125 by Sheriff Peter Paterson.
