But Scottish Borders Council has admitted that only one tenant, Born in the Borders, has yet signed up for the new units.

An insider told us: “There has been interest for other units but, as yet, no further leases have been signed.” The Interchange will open to the public from next Monday.

Tomorrow’s event will see Scottish Borders Council leader, David Parker, and David Houston of the Galashiels Roads Stakeholders Group jointly open the landmark building.

It will provide a direct link from the railway as well as forming the town’s new bus station and business hub.

A plaque to mark a time capsule created by TD1 Youth Hub, which has been buried at the site, will also be unveiled during the occasion.

Galashiels Transport Interchange has been delivered by Hub South East Scotland and its appointed contractor Morrison Construction.

The project has been part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
