POLICE in the Borders are appealing for witnesses following a theft in Hawick.

The incident happened sometime between 9pm on Saturday, August 6 and 7am on Sunday, August 7 at an address in Wilson Drive. 

After the property had been entered a set of car keys to a lime green Vauxhall Corsa, with registration number SL15 GRU, were taken from inside.The vehicle was then stolen.

Inquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

Constable Steven Irvine from Jedburgh Police Station said: "Given the distinct colour of this stolen car, we would imagine it would be easily recognised by the public and we would ask anyone who sees it to contact police immediately.

"In addition, anyone who saw any suspicious activity around Wilson Drive on either Saturday evening or Sunday morning is also asked to get in touch."
