POLICE in the Borders are investigating following a suspicious incident at a supermarket in Hawick on the morning of Friday 13th December.
The incident happened around 11am in Morrisons on Mart Street when a woman reported to staff that a man was following her around the store. She reported that he had then dropped a note of an offensive nature into her shopping basket without her knowledge.
Police are keen to trace the victim of this incident, who left the store prior to the arrival of officers. She is described as being in her late 40s to early 50s, with shoulder length dark hair, wearing thick square framed glasses, a long dark coat and long brown leather boots.
PC Alan Hastings from Police Scotland said: "This incident caused distress to the female victim, as reported by staff in the store. We are keen to trace her, so we can progress this enquiry. If anyone witnessed this or has any information that can assist us, they should contact police immediately on 101."
