GALA chased down their biggest total for over 30 years to make it six East Division one wins in a row.

The Braw Lads overcame Clackmannan County’s challenging total of 238 with three overs left, with a number of batsmen making significant contributions at Meigle Park.

They included Robbie Pringle, who smashed 46 in quick time to shift momentum in Gala’s favour in the closing stages.

Gala captain Kevin Gallagher put the visitors into bat, and Dinesh Tharanga claimed Clackmannan’s South African overseas player Craig Bolan for 5.

But Keith Hefer and Tariq Mehboob (40) put on 98 to get their side on top on another good batting wicket.

Hefer would go on to make 94 with support from Cameron Graham (23), Aurangzeb Alamgir (22) and Ashraq Rasul (23 not out). Tharanga was the pick of the Gala bowlers with 3 for 29.

Gala were on the back foot almost immediately in their reply as Rory Hawes and Jack Halls fell to leave the homesters 13 for 2.

But Keith Allen and Josh Irvine combined brilliantly for a 97 run partnership before Allen went for 42.

Irvine went on to make 78 but when he departed, Gala still required 83 to win from just 12 overs.

Up stepped Pringle, supported by Duncan Millar, who took the game to County with some big hitting.

Pringle was eventually out but Millar and Graeme Ormiston saw Gala home.

Rizwan Ashraf took 4 for 33 for Clackmannan on an excellent afternoon of cricket.
