GALA'S cricketers have shown themselves to be a hit in front of the camera.

The club were named as one of five winners of Cricket Scotland's Love Cricket #choosecricket contest which asked clubs and schools from across the country to make a 30 second video explaining why they love the game.

Each of the winners received £500 worth of Cricket Factory junior equipment and were hosted by Cricket Scotland at the recent Scotland v Afghanistan international.

Gala's entry centred on cricket being a game open to anyone, no matter your gender, age or race.

Ross Patterson, Gala CC's junior convenor, said: "Everyone involved in the video had great fun, although there were some interesting out-takes which did not make the final cut.

"We were delighted to be among the winners chosen and promote the message that the sport is a game for everyone, which ties into our involvement in Cricket Scotland's Thriving Clubs programme.

"On that theme, we have an girls/womens open day this Sunday (17 July) at the club from 10am to 2pm to allow females to try the sport."
