Vale of Leithen 4
Hawick Royal Albert 3
TEN man Vale produced a remarkable fight-back on Saturday to continue climbing up the Lowland League.
Captain James Elliot had headed the Victoria Park team in front during the opening exchanges.
But Josh Morris's equaliser was followed by a red card for home midfielder Sean Stewart.
And the Albert took full advantage with Sean Conaghan blasting the visitors in front on 44 minutes.
Hawick looked to have sealed the points when Gavin Pettigrew beat Andy McQueen at his near post.
But Chris Anderson's team rallied with Liam McIntosh netting a penalty with 15 minutes remaining.
Elliot equalised following a goal-mouth scramble on 87 minutes.
And just two minutes later McIntosh held his nerve to fire home his team's second penalty for a 4-3 win.
Manager Anderson said: "The boys showed great character to come from behind.
"Hawick asked a lot of questions from us and thankfully we had the answers."
