BERWICKSHIRE'S Guy Learmonth has reached the semi-finals of the 800 metres at the European Championships - but only just.
The 26-year-old, who is in the top six athletes on times competing in Berlin, had to rely on a fastest loser spot after being crowded out of a top three finish in the second heat.
Guy said: "I made a bit of a mess of that.
"I was trying to cover every move rather than just sit and be patient - and ended up being run out of it at the end.
"I won't make that mistake again."
The former Scottish champion, who recorded a new personal best just three weeks ago, will return to the track tomorrow evening for the semi finals.
