Selkirk finally announced the deal with EDUSports on Thursday to allow for Fédération Française de Football players to play in the Lowland League.

An arrangement with Airdrie is already working well.

And Selkirk manager Steve Forrest hopes for similar results. He said: “The players have plenty of talent and we hope this is just the start.

“With plans for two teams next season - Lowland League and East of Scotland League - we are looking to bring in a few boys under the EDUSports scholarship scheme.” Former Tolouse striker Yannis Lamgari and Rennes centre-half Jordaine Orain both featured in Saturday’s match at Stirling University.

And they will be joined this week - once international clearance is given - by 22-year-old right back Benjamin Huteau 23-year-old left back Julio Tonelle.

All four players came to Scotland as part of EDUSports scholarship scheme which allows them to learn English as well as play full-time football.

They will remain based in Hamilton and travel to training and matches with Selkirk physio, Janine Dickie.

The 34-week program offers talented footballers from all over France the opportunity to combine high-level football development with English language tuition. Training daily in the best football facilities in Scotland, the players benefit from the coaching experience of top UEFA qualified coaching staff.

And it was one of those coaches who brokered the deal with Selkirk.

Former Le Havre, Hibernian and Coventry player Guillaume Beuzelin, works beside Selkirk’s management duo of Forest and Paul Doig at Easter Road.

Steve added: “Paul and I went up to watch them play recently at Falkirk and they are certainly good enough to make a difference in our team.

“Guillaume has been a great help in moving things along and we hope that this is just the start.” The EDUSport Academy 2013-2014 squad consists of 35 players between the ages of 17-23 years old.
