The fourth running of the Border Barmy Army Pantomime Horse Race will come under starter's orders at 1.15pm.

A total of 14 pantomime horses - each of them sponsored by local businesses - will go to the post in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and The Fire Fighters Charity.

The first proper race on tomorrow's valuable card gets under way at 2.10pm.

The featured race is the EDF/ER Barmoor Handicap Chase run over 3m 2f with a total prize fund of £17,000. Donald McCain has two entered - Beeves and recent Southwell scorer Abbey Storm - both carrying the colours of St Boswells owner Paul and Clare Rooney.

The Alastair Whillans-trained Gleann Na Ndochais is a bang-in-form Hawick contender after his exploits at Perth earlier this autumn.

Leading Scottish jumps trainer Lucinda Russell has entered plenty of horses for the meeting with Hallmark Staar aimed at the Leonard Harper Gow 2m 1f Handicap Chase. Greenlaw trainer Sandy Thomson is starting to get his string going and Oscar Lateen will make his first appearance since pulling up at Newcastle last December.

Geoff Adam, Chairman of R P Adam and a Director of the Racecourse has not only agreed to sponsor the tremendous Charity fund raising efforts of the Border Barmy Army and the Pantomime Horse Race, but has also agreed to sponsor the Novice Hurdle over 2m 6.5f.

Lucy Normile had a huge-priced double in the Flat at Ayr recently and she will be hoping her magic touch can continue with Dunleer Dixie who has been pulled up on his last two starts.

Gates are open at Kelso from 12.15pm
