The race was won by Richardson & Son Printers of Hawick, followed by Selkirk firm RP Adam in second and the George & Abbotsford Hotel of Melrose in third.

And together they raised £2000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Fire Fighters Charity.

It celebrated another tremendous year of fundraising for the BBA.

Earlier this year, Richard Minnikin, Roddy Gladstone and five other members completed the great North Run in aid of the Friends Of The BGH, and captain Steve Mellor took part in a sponsored skydive, in addition to a number of other local fundraisers.

Their final challenge for 2014 will take place on Sunday, November 2, when Lee Myers, Liam Myers, Jenny Rankine, Kevin Traill and Kirstyn Hume will take on the New York City Marathon in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity. Lee said: “We are delighted to announce that after an extremely successful 2014 we have now raised over £85,000 for charity in the last six years.

“We would like say a huge thank you to everyone who has very kindly donated, to all the local businesses that sponsor us and to all our friends and family for their continual support.”
