The highlights on the card were the doubles for jockeys Charlotte Dun and this season’s leader in the race to be men’s champion, Nick Orpwood.

Sam Coltherd aboard RMB’s Damien Dilemma gained revenge on Banoge for a narrow defeat in the Duke of Buccleuch’s members race when making all in the border hunts club members race. Banoge finished second and Whiteabbey third.

The Toft was the first leg of Nick’s double in the young horse maiden with Whatsthestoryman again finding one too good a close second and Caherelly third.

Charlotte, from Heriot, rode her first ever point to point winner wearing the colours of her late father, the well known and well respected Michael who would have been extremely proud to have called home his daughter first in the ladies open. Tasheba was second and Accordingtotheboss third.

Charlotte wasted no time in doubling her tally when riding her aunt Cathie’s Farm Pixie to success in the following eight year old and over maiden race. Bringing the winner with a well timed challenge to lead at the last and win going away to beat Pampas it and Nelly La Rue.

Tom Hamilton rode a very enterprising race aboard the front running The Gotfor Man and made Splendid Blue pull out all the stops in the men’s open. Splendid Blue was winning for the fifth time at Friars Haugh. Royal Chatelier finished third.

The only veteran rider in the veterans and novice riders race Jamie Alexander got an early birthday present the day before hit fiftieth birthday by riding his own Back On The Road to victory. Belying his thirteen years Back On The Road proved too strong for Soul Angel and Annie Aces.

The final race provided the closest finish of the day when Dun Faw Good just got the better of Fight Away Boys after a ding dong battle up the run in by a short head. Mister D was back in third.
