EDINBURGH Rugby will play a second pre-season game in the Borders this summer, against Newcastle Falcons at Mansfield Park on Friday 28 August (kick-off 7.45pm).

The match will follow the club's home game against Leicester Tigers at the Greenyards on Saturday 22 August (kick-off 2pm), after the clubs accepted the invite from Hawick to host a rematch of last year's well-attended pre-season encounter.

Edinburgh Rugby managing director, David Davies, said: "We're delighted to accept Hawick's kind invitation to play Newcastle at Mansfield Park, and look forward to renewing our rivalry with the Falcons.

"We recognise they have strengthened their squad over the break and look forward to a thorough workout before the PRO12 starts in earnest in September." Mick Hogan, managing director at the Falcons, added: "We are delighted to be back again at Hawick RFC after the success of last season's fixture.

"Edinburgh Rugby will provide a stern test for the team a week before the Aviva Premiership season commences.

"We know how big the support for rugby is in the Borders and with the travelling fans of both clubs, added to the local supporters, we're sure it'll be a big crowd and a great occasion at Mansfield Park.” Ross Cameron, Hawick RFC President, said: "We are delighted to welcome Edinburgh and Newcastle back to Mansfield Park, giving local rugby fans another chance to watch professional rugby in the Borders.” Tickets priced £10 and £5 for concessions are available from Hawick RFC or online at www.edinburghrugby.org
