ON Sunday 10th August, despite a forecast of heavy rain, Tweeddale Ramblers pressed on with their plans, and lit their BBQ outside Traquair Village Hall.
While the majority of the party enjoyed a short walk to stimulate appetites, the barbeque was coaxed to be ready to cook on the walkers' return. From fresh Mackerel to fillet steak and much else in between, miraculously, the food cooked just before the rain decided to become extremely heavy.
At that point, the members retreated to the comfort of the Hall, and added fresh rolls and baked potatoes and salads to their plates, accompanied with a modest quencher.
Thereafter, an individual quiz, on a Scottish theme, was conducted and enjoyed, before anyone was permitted to partake of the usual sumptuous puddings on offer.
The fairly easy walk on Sunday 17th August involves Cademuir, and non members are welcome to come. Meet at Kingsmeadows Car Park in Peebles at 10am and bring a packed lunch.
